Mahadevi Ashram is a sacred space dedicated to the awakening of our higher Self and Potential through spiritual practice and ancient wisdom. As an ashram it serves as a safe sanctuary for those interested in the subtler aspects of reality. It is set by a clean and lovely mountain creek in a jungly garden, dotted with bamboo cabins overlooking Lake Atitlan and the Santiago volcano...
Kaivalya is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School resident at Mahadevi Ashram, but also offering courses at other locations around the world.
San Marcos La Laguna & Tzununa
Our village Tzununa, right outside of San Marcos La Laguna is a quaint community of Mayans and foreigners on the sunny northern shore of Lake Atitlan. Its crater is often regarded as the spiritual heart of Central America, a vibrant vortex supporting deep healing and spiritual growth, offering a warm-hearted, inspired scene of seekers and healers to connect with.
There are several healthy eateries and plenty of fresh and affordable tropical fruit, even a couple of health food stores.
The weather is almost always warm (21-28 C / 72-85 F during the day) and it's mostly sunny from November through April. July and August are getting a lot less rain than the rest of the 'green season' (May-October).
You can easily reach other lake villages by boat or tuctuc (three-wheelers imported from India) and all destinations in Guatemala & beyond via convenient, safe shuttle services. The locals are friendly and there is none of the sketchiness of certain parts of the capital. Coming here is as safe as anywhere.
International flights to Guatemala can be surprising affordable,
especially if you book early or last minute. For the best prices from the US try Volaris, Interjet or Spirit Air, from Europe Jetairfly, Norwegian, Wowair, Wamos or Thomas Cook via Cancun or Miami.
